Cannabis Potency, Policy and Practice

Advanced RVT Toolkit

Welcome,

One of the important causes of errors and unintentional loss of business is ineffective communication. The important part of this skill, in case it has been forgotten, is listening. The objective of this mini course is to teach you active listening and why it can be important in the marijuana business for owners, managers and employees.

Many organizations try to improve this skill in their managers. Listening requires the managers to understand that their staff and customers are important. Managers listen to their staff’s ideas and have the ability to draw out their best advice. It is certain when leaders allocate time to listen actively, they build trust and commitment in their work and this is different from one-way communication and issuing orders to people Supervisors with better listening attitudes and skills enhance their communication with subordinates, which could result in the subordinates’ perceiving that they have more support, which causes them to feel better about their work and their supervisor. Therefore, it is obvious that, if managers want to be successful, they should listen to their staff and customers and get their feedback. Frontline staff need to learn active listening to build trust with consumers and to avoid costly errors.

This mini course is free of charge and will give you an idea of the format of the vendor training program!

For more than 30 years, I've served as an educator and administrator in Massachusetts, with primary responsibility for ensuring the safety and security of an inner-city school system. This involved a broad range of tasks, including developing policies and procedures, providing compliance training, and organizing professional development seminars covering topics such as crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, educational law, behavior management, substance abuse prevention, restorative justice, social-emotional learning, and mindfulness.

Throughout my tenure, I collaborated with a wide range of stakeholders, including educators, security personnel, community police, gang units, drug units, the Department of Justice, court systems, mental health providers, and city, state, and federal staff to address regulatory issues and implement reform initiatives. I also attended training offered by the FBI in Massachusetts, which focused on internet-based threats, hacking, and security breaches. Additionally, I received training in ALICE/active shooter procedures.

Over the course of two decades, I was involved in the daily work of preventing minors from accessing illegal substances, with the ultimate goal of fostering a safe, drug-free environment that facilitates learning.

Currently, I provide education and training to the workforce on marijuana to prevent its misuse by minors while supporting the responsible use of adult marijuana in Massachusetts. Along with a Master's in Education, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems and possess five years of experience working with companies to ensure compliance with state regulations through systems analysis and training.

In addition to my professional work, I am a professor in the Workforce and Development Department at a local Boston college. I am proud to have received multiple grants from the Massachusetts Governor's Office for Workforce and Development as well as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for my innovative curricula that focus on addressing core equity-related challenges in schools. I developed the RVT program using Universal Design methods, which break down barriers to understanding complex or difficult-to-understand material, allowing equal access to the curriculum for all students.

Apart from my professional work, I am also interested in growing cannabis and summer vegetables.
